A Passenger Was Killed on I-264 in Portsmouth

The I-264 sees many serious and fatal crashes. I was saddened to read about how a passenger was killed on I-264 in Portsmouth as well as a driver over the weekend.

State Police are investigating the deadly crash just after 4 p.m. on Saturday when a single-vehicle accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-264, west of Greenwood Drive.

According to reports, the driver of a Ford Focus ran off the roadway. The driver then over-corrected, and crashed down an embankment by the interstate striking a tree. Both the driver and passenger were killed upon impact.

Police said the cause of the double fatal wreck is still under investigation.

I was shocked to read about how a passenger was killed on I-264 in Portsmouth this weekend.

Every year passengers lose their lives due to no fault of their own when a driver loses control of his or her vehicle.

Single vehicle crashes are the most common on the highways of the United States. In a recent crash, three people from Chincoteague on the Eastern Shore of Virginia lost their lives in a single vehicle accident.

The I-264 in Portsmouth has a high accident rate and sees fatal wrecks every year. Recently, a woman was charged over the deaths of two children in a crash on the I-264 in Portsmouth, we noted on our blog.

When a passenger loses his or her lives in an auto wreck, family members may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the insurance policy of the at-fault driver.

If you have lost a loved one in a car, truck, or motorcycle wreck in Hampton Roads or elsewhere in Virginia, please call us at (757) 455-0077.
