Recently, we reported on how a 32-year-old passenger died in a crash when a car overturned on I-264 in Portsmouth.

A 23-year-old driver from Portsmouth was hit with DUI and manslaughter charges after the crash. Police said he was driving a Ford Focus east on I-264 when he tried to avoid another vehicle, lost control of his car on the interstate and flipped it.

The police report said three people in the back seat of the Focus were thrown out of the car. Paramedics transported the other passengers from the wreck scene to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. They were treated for serious injuries. Tragically, one woman failed to survive the crash.

Virginia State Police closed I-264 at Greenwood Drive for six hours as they investigated the cause of the serious wreck.
