Cooper Hurley Helps University of Richmond Basketball Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers recently helped students at the University of Richmond meet their fundraising target in a basketball event that raised money for Ronald McDonald House.
Attorney Jim Hurley’s son Jimmy is a student at the University of Richmond. On March 24, he took part in Hoops for the House hosted by The University of Richmond chapter Sigma Phi Epsilon.
The event was a three-on-three tournament, a cookout and a game that featured members of the fraternity and the Richmond Spiders men's basketball program.

The proceeds of the charity fundraiser went to the City of Richmond’s Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald House serves the families of children suffering from life-threatening diseases during their extended stays near Richmond hospitals. Usually, the location of a Ronald McDonald House is in close proximity to where the child is receiving medical care, allowing parents and family members easy access to visitation. Norfolk also has a Ronald McDonald House. Meals, transportation, and childcare are also provided to families during their stays.
The fraternity-wide fundraising goal was $10,000. Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers donated $1,000 to this great cause
Jimmy and his friends raised more than $17,000 during March. They raised enough money for 177 families to enjoy an average length stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Richmond. It was also enough money to purchase a Happy Wheels Cart, a wagon taken around daily in the pediatric unit bringing patients toys and games.
Over the last few months, Cooper Hurley has supported numerous great causes in Hampton Roads and elsewhere in Virginia.
We were a sponsor of Girls on the Run, an organization that builds teamwork for girls third grade through eighth grade. On May 21, Girls on the Run will hold a 5K at Virginia Wesleyan College.
We are also a sponsor of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia which is holding its Legal Food Frenzy at present.
Please also support our spring Facebook “likes’ campaign which supports Heal The Warriors, a Norfolk-based charity that helps veterans and service personnel with brain injuries. For every new ‘like’ of our Facebook page, we will donate $1 to Heal the Warriors.
