Cooper Hurley Supports Temple’s Ghent Your Game on Event

Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk is going outside its walls this year to hold its annual fundraiser at a brewery and Cooper Hurley is a sponsor.

Ghent Your Game On will be held at O’Connor Brewing Company on 24th Street in Norfolk on April 30 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Second vice president, Karen Fine, organized the event and says the Ohef Sholom Temple in Ghent is breaking new ground with its annual fundraiser.

“We are holding it outside our temple which is new to us,” said Fine.

She promises an event that will be “family-friendly” with a gaming theme. As such there will be foosball, jumbo Connect 4, Jenga and many other attractions, as well as four different food trucks, Gelato and hand-made doughnuts. There will also be a live auction.

“You name it we have got it,” said Fine. “Part of the reason that we wanted to do our fund raising event outside  of the temple in the community, was that we wanted to partner with our community friends … we wanted to welcome the community to our fundraiser.”

The event is open to the public and costs $55 in advance and $75 on the door.

“We are hoping to get not just temple members but our community partners and that all will have a good time for a good cause,” Fine said.

Fine also praised Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers. “Any fundraising event cannot really be put on without some very committed and generous supporters like Cooper Hurley and we are forever grateful for their support for this event and, not just the event itself but supporting the temple and all that we do,” she said.

Attorney John Cooper has been nominated to serve on the OST board of directors for a three- year term this year. He will be elected and installed at the annual meeting of Ohef Sholom Congregation on May 5.
