Woman Loses Her Life in Three Vehicle Crash in Norfolk’s Ward’s Corner

The Wards Corner area of Norfolk is a bustling place with many roads that feed onto an interstate. Tragically, it was the scene of a fatal three-vehicle wreck yesterday.

Police reported the death of the woman in the three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on E. Little Creek Road.

The crash involved a Nissan Sentra, a school bus and a Lexus, according to police. They say no students were on the bus at the time of the wreck.

Norfolk police said the Lexus was turning from the Interstate 564 off-ramp onto E. Little Creek Road when it struck the bus and the Nissan, which were both heading west on E. Little Creek.

The crash illustrates how exits and entrances to interstates can be dangerous places

I was saddened to read that the woman driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Her car was reported to be trapped under the bus. One witness told local news media that she was wearing a uniform.

Police said the drivers of the Nissan and the school bus were uninjured in the wreck. However, a passenger in the Nissan was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that were of a non-life-threatining nature.

A report from WAVY.com quoted Renatta Bradley who was sitting at a light waiting to drive east on E. Little Creek when the wreck happened.

She saw the bus coming into her lane and said glass from all three vehicles littered the scene. The crash closed down Little Creek Road for several hours.
