Four Are Injured in Wreck on Whaleyville Boulevard in Suffolk

Our Suffolk, Virginia car accident lawyers are certainly familiar with wrecks on Whaleyville Boulevard and elsewhere in the city.

Suffolk is the largest geographical city in Virginia and it has hundreds of miles of rural roads.

When accidents do occur in Suffolk, they are often very serious and involve multiple injuries. This week the Suffolk Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on the 8500 block of Whaleyville Boulevard/Route 13

The wreck occurred just before noon on Friday, reported the Suffolk News-Herald.

The three occupants of a Windstar minivan sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. Two of the van’s occupants were airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and one was taken by ground transportation.

The city reported that Whaleyville Boulevard was closed at Freeman Mill Road in both directions while wreckers worked to clear the vehicles from the scene.

No details were available Friday of the cause of this accident. My thoughts are with those who were hurt and their families. I hope they make a speedy recovery.

Wrecks on Whaleyville Boulevard in Suffolk

In recent years, we have seen some very serious wrecks on Whaleyville Boulevard. In 2015, Teresa Brooks Brown, 60, and Bernice Ping Brooks, 84, from Colerain in North Carolina, lost their lives when a minivan struck their PT Cruiser just after 8 a.m. in the 8700 block of Whaleyville Blvd., near the North Carolina line.

Mrs. Brown was driving a PT Cruiser. Police said the driver of the minivan, who was badly injured in the accident, was at fault and that charges were pending.

We see many head-on collisions on the rural roads of Suffolk. Often drivers fail to slow down for the conditions and lose control of their car on curves.

Pruden Boulevard (Route 460) is another infamous stretch of road in Suffolk that sees many multi-vehicle wrecks and fatal crashes every year.
